Phil Jackson is widely regarded as one of the greatest NBA coaches of all time. He is the only coach to win at least ten titles in the main professional sports leagues in North America.
Many honors and recognitions have been bestowed to this Basketball Hall of Fame inductee, among them the Roughrider Award and the Amos Alonzo Stagg Coaching Award, and many more. Jackson is well-known for his use of eastern philosophy-inspired motivating approaches when coaching his teams.
He was the head coach of the Chicago Bulls for nine seasons, before going on to coach the Los Angeles Lakers for the remainder of his coaching career, where he eventually retired. He has devoted his whole life to the game of basketball, both as a coach and a player.
Number of Phil Jackson NBA Championships
With 11 NBA titles under his coaching belt, Jackson now owns the record for the most championships won by a coach in NBA history. When the Chicago Bulls hired him as their head coach in 1989, he served the franchise for almost a decade. The squad won six titles during this time span.
After the 1997-98 season, he departed the Chicago Bulls because of a disagreement with the team’s management. In 1999, he returned to coaching with the Los Angeles Lakers after a one-year absence. It was at this time he coached the Lakers (1999-2004 and 2005-2011) that the club won five league championships.
