Back in the offseason, the <a href="https://news.thesportsdrop.com/nfl/nfl-news-russell-wilson-reacts-to-broncos-failed-field-goal-attempt-vs-seahawks-2746-20220914-SPD-2746.html" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Russell Wilson</a> trade to the <a href="https://news.thesportsdrop.com/nfl/von-miller-will-root-for-russell-wilson-broncos-while-chasing-super-bowl-ring-with-bills-2163-20220712-SPD-2163.html" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Broncos</a> seemed like a match made in heaven. However, only six weeks later many are wondering whether it was a mistake.



Though the veteran quarterback’s talent is undeniable, he has struggled to perform as expected since moving to the Mile High City. With their loss to the Chargers on Monday, the Broncos dropped to 2-4.



While the offense has so far failed to produce, the defense did their job well, which is why many wonder if there exists some sort of friction between the units. According to Wilson, things are just fine inside the locker room.



<h2>Russell Wilson says Broncos are united</h2>



“We don’t have division in our locker room,” Wilson said, via Kevin Patra of Around the NFL. “You guys saw how hard we played for each other. It didn’t go our way, but everyone is fighting their butts off every day. The line, the receivers, the running backs, the defense, the defensive line, the linebackers and our safeties and corners, everybody was playing for each other and we felt like we could have won the game.



“We had that fluke play at the end, but right before that play, we still felt like we could have won the game. It didn’t work out, but everyone is still together, and we still believe in everything we can do. We must find ways to continue making plays and score touchdowns and do that. The end of the first quarter and the second quarter to get all the way down there. That’s us. We have to bring that every time, and it can’t be anything less.”

Russell Wilson’s return to <a href="https://news.thesportsdrop.com/nfl/nfl-news-bobby-wagner-explains-decision-to-join-rams-after-seahawks-release-2228-20220717-SPD-2228.html" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Seattle</a> didn’t go as expected. While many thought he would emerge victorious in his first game since being traded to Denver, it was Geno Smith who gave his side the win.



The Broncos failed to control the <a href="https://news.thesportsdrop.com/nfl/super-bowl-champions-list-of-all-time-winners-215-20220503-SPD-215.html" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Seahawks</a> quarterback and struggled to get things going offensively. The worst part of the night, however, came late in the fourth quarter. Broncos head coach Nathaniel Hackett made a controversial call by sending kicker Brandon McManus to the field to attempt a 64-yard field goal in 4th and five.



McManus missed the kick, and many wondered what could have been if Wilson was given the chance to go for it. The quarterback, however, showed support for his coach and McManus after the loss.

“Well, we got the best field goal kicker maybe in the game,” Wilson said, via ProFootballTalk. “We said, ‘Where can you make it from tonight?’ and he said 46, left hash. I think we were on the 46. That was before the drive. We got it there; unfortunately didn’t go in.



“I think he has the leg for it for sure. Just went a little left I believe and just — I believe in Coach Hackett. I believe in what we’re doing. Believe in everything, and any time you can try to find a way to make a play on fourth and five, that’s great too. Also, I don’t think it was the wrong decision. I think he can make it. Obviously hindsight he didn’t make it, but we were in that situation again I wouldn’t doubt whatever he decided.”

<h2>Von Miller says he’ll forever be a Bronco</h2>



“This team is going to be great,” Miller said of the Broncos at his Von’s Vision charity event, per The Denver Post’s Kyle Newman. “It’s bittersweet that I won’t be here to be a part of it, because I’ve still got orange and blue in my heart, and it will stay that way forever.



“We’ve been close in the AFC West for a very long time, and now we’ve got Russell Wilson. Jerry Jeudy‘s going to be insane this year. Courtland Sutton‘s going to be insane this year. I want those guys to win as many games as possible.”



Von Miller has cemented a legacy in Denver, there’s nothing that will change that. However, now he’s on pace to cement a legacy of his own in the NFL as he could become the first player to win rings with three different teams.
