There hasn’t been a change in strategy by the Brooklyn Nets,” Windhorst said.



“I think what we have here is really a study of leverage. First off, the Nets do not have leverage in trade talks with other teams. They are not giving them the offers that they want. They see no reason to increase them. And so they’re not making any progress there. And Kevin Durant clearly does not have leverage with the Brooklyn Nets. He is asking for things: ‘Get me traded. Fire the coach. Fire the GM.’ He is being told no. So when you have denied leverage, you have a stalemate.”

Warren</a> to the roster.



There were just 71 games played by T.J. Warren throughout his three seasons with the <a href="https://news.thesportsdrop.com/nba/nba-news-steve-kerr-believes-stephen-curry-is-not-getting-enough-credit-1321-20220606-SPD-1321.html" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Indianapolis Pacers.</a> A stress fracture on his foot forced him to miss the previous two seasons.

Being an unrestricted, unrestricted-free agency, the 28-year-old small forward has officially signed a one-year agreement with the Nets for the 2022-23 NBA season. In addition, Steve Nash’s side have also added another free agent, Edmond Sumner less than 24 hours after Warren was signed by the organization.



Injuries have been a part of Edmond Sumner’s narrative since he joined the squad. The 26-year-old point guard spent three seasons with the Pacers as a healthy player, but he had to earn his place in the starting lineup.

While for KD it may be the right moment to continue contending before he hangs them up, his desire to leave didn’t sit well with many people. After all, this is the team he preferred over the Warriors a few years back and the one that gave him the keys to succeed.

Many fans may be just as disappointed as Sharpe, but GMs around the league are excited about the idea of KD being on the market. His preferred landing spots seem to be Phoenix or Miami, but any suitor will have to make a reasonable offer for the Nets.

Other elements would need to be engaged, but there is ‘palpable confidence’ that the two parties may reach an agreement this summer.



According to Haynes, the Nets are interested in signing sharpshooting guard Joe Harris, who will be paid $38.6m over the next two years. However, rather than taking on Harris’ deal, the Lakers want the Nets to part with Seth Curry.



This week, both Irving and Westbrook exercised their player options, but now the two parties must work out a salary agreement. Both Irving and Westbrook have contracts worth $36.5 million and $47 million, respectively, for the next season. The Nets are also looking for draft compensation as part of the agreement.



<h2>Which team might be the winner of the trade?</h2>



Following the Nets’ acceptance of Kevin Durant’s request for a trade, Irving has selected the last year of a contract worth $36.4 million. However, it is expected that he could be dealt with soon afterward, as per Brian Windhorst.



The Lakers have nothing to lose. With LeBron James and Kyrie Irving having previously worked together for the Cavaliers, Irving is the team’s greatest opportunity to acquire more leadership this summer.

A deal for <a href="https:\/\/news.thesportsdrop.com/nba/nba-news-kevin-durant-wont-get-involved-in-kyrie-irvings-decision-on-future-1775-20220625-SPD-1775.html" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Kevin Durant</a> and Jason Kleiman is being worked out by Nets general manager Sean Marks, reports ESPN‘s Adrian Wojnarowski. 



It’s widely known that Durant prefers a move to either the Phoenix Suns or Miami Heat, but there’s no lack of clubs eager to get their hands on the NBA star. A no-trade provision does not exist in Durant’s deal, which means the Nets may transfer him to whatever club offers them the most money in return for him.



The announcement comes following reports that both Durant and Kyrie Irving’s futures at Brooklyn were in jeopardy. Even before Irving’s decision to leave the Nets was made public earlier this week, there were whispers that Durant might do the same if the franchise did not give him a long-term contract. 



<h2>Nets’ superstar squad falling to pieces</h2>



In spite of this, Irving just exercised his $37 million player option for the next season, which suggests that both he and Durant will stay with the Nets until at least the 2022-23 season. However, Wojnarowski claims that neither Irving nor Durant had any communication with the Nets front office after Irving opted into his player option, implying that Durant would ultimately want a trade.



Since Durant signed a four-year, $198 million deal extension last summer, it’s going to take a large offer from other clubs to lure him away from the Golden State Warriors. Every club will be phoning the Nets to see what they can do for Kevin Durant now that free agency has begun.
