The problem is that things have the potential to become more costly than ever in the not-too-distant future. It is mainly because of the team’s senior core and their newer, younger players who have bloomed into crucial players for the future.



While Steph Curry’s future is assured until the 2025–2026 season, the Warriors still face a number of major choices in the near future. One involves <a href="https://news.thesportsdrop.com/nba/nba-free-agency-nets-acquire-ex-pacers-duo-t-j-warren-and-edmond-sumner-2038-20220706-SPD-2038.html" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Draymond Green</a> and his upcoming $25.8 million salary and a player option for $27.6 million in the following season.



<h2>Draymond Green set for Warriors’ exit?</h2>



Green has shown interest in signing a new maximum contract with the Warriors, as reported by Marcus Thompson II of The Athletic. His free agency period begins on August 3. The problem is that the Warriors don’t appear interested in giving him one.

Even though rumors were rife when Durant requested a trade to the Nets from the Warriors, the two teams were never likely to reunite. The Warriors superstars reportedly even contacted their ex-teammate at one point to have a chat about it.



The Warriors’ hopes of a repeat season mean that veteran forward must wait. This move looks to require the Warriors to spend some of their taxpayer mid-level exceptions according to their cap predicament and the sums cited by Charania. DiVincenzo is a welcome addition to the Warriors after the departure of Gary Payton II to the Portland Trail Blazers.



As a 25-year-old starter for the Milwaukee Bucks, DiVincenzo could easily return to that level for the Golden State Warriors in the future. But he had the worst season of his career last year.



<h2>Donte DiVincenzo to continue career in San Francisco</h2>



After missing the whole 2021 postseason due to an ankle ailment, the shooting guard returned and shot only 35.1% from the field. Even still, his defense wasn’t quite the same.



At some point during the season, the Bucks traded for DiVincenzo and sent him to the Sacramento Kings, where his minutes were severely restricted in an apparent attempt to reduce his qualifying offer. A qualifying offer was eventually declined by the Kings in favor of signing Malik Monk and dealing for Kevin Huerter.

At this moment, it’s not apparent why Atkinson chose to change his mind and stay with the Warriors. According to Wojnarowski, that occurred after ‘additional discussions’.



<h2>What now for Hornets?</h2>



In the 2022 NBA Finals, the Golden State Warriors beat the Boston Celtics, led by Atkinson as their assistant coach, to win their first championship. Atkinson may just want to remain in the Bay Area so that he can compete for championships, coach some of the finest players of this age, and work for a top franchise.



Unfortunately for Charlotte’s upcoming 2022 NBA Draft and next free-agent market, they will have to start over from scratch, which isn’t an ideal situation. Mike D’Antoni and Terry Stotts were also considered contenders for the position before Atkinson was chosen.
